Love will always find you

                                          YouTube

I heard about YouTuber and online comedian Thabit Al Mawaly from a friend of a friend about half a year ago. I finally had a chance to look at the videos he uploads to his YouTube channel and I’ve included the one I like best above. I don't want to give away the plot as it’s a fairly short video and even though you pretty much know what's coming from the beginning, it's still funny.

Can't you just tell that they're in Dubai though? (If you want to assume that everyone that lives in Dubai is rich and Arab of course.) Take the view from the window, the fact that they're playing the board game Monopoly in what looks like a HOTEL of all places... Although I guess it’s a neutral environment that’s ideal for filming a video. I don’t know, I’m not a filmmaker. Al Mawaly’s most viewed video is called "The Sheep" or Kharoof in Arabic (الخرفنه) a commonly used term used to describe men in the Middle East who chase after women. I think this particular video is funny too, but it’s a bit long for my taste. What do you think? Do you like it better? Either way, the stand-up comedian and filmmaker has gained traction amongst those who watch his videos on social and cultural habits as well as his own personal experiences in the United Arab Emirates as he was featured in a Gulf News article as the first Emirati YouTube comedian and is listed as one of the top 100 vloggers from the UAE based on the number of people who have subscribed to his channel. Do you have other videos of his that you like? Are you a fan? Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below!
